Requirement
Our client is the nation’s leading provider of K-12 longitudinal data systems, enabling educators to transform the way they use and understand the data they collect to improve education. The School Districts needed a powerful system for tackling their data reporting needs and complying with national, state and local reporting requirements. However, looking at aggregates alone is not enough. To get the full picture, districts must have a system that enables them to use this data for analysis and inquiry.
Solution
The solution is to provide a web-based, reporting tool that provides educators with access to student data, to support school-based decision making. It is designed for an end user who needs access to data, but is not a data analyst.

The intuitive, graphic, web-based interface frees users from having to remember commands or recall how functions work. With pre-defined, printable reports proven throughout many school districts, the product provides easy access to data and supports multiple levels of users, from novice to power-user.
Technology
Infobahn’s consultant is involved in the design and development of a J2EE reporting application using Open Source products and technologies like XML. The task involves designing a security module using JAAS API and running over HTTPS protocol. Task includes designing queries to run on the following databases: DB2/Oracle/SQL Server. This involves providing a high performance solution that has Dashboard and OLAP capabilities, the ability to set up alerts, perform trend analysis and perform remote administration. |
