Requirement Our client, a tractor and equipment manufacturer wanted to reconfigure a touch screen, GPS enabled display (RCD) family called GSD2100 and GSD2600 for data recording & display which is used in it’s tractors for planting seeding, harvesting & controlling other environmental conditions using CAN (Controller Area Networks) and GPS for communication. These RCD displays are deployed on the tractors to make all the operations in the field user-friendly and provide a feature that automates tractor controls, ground speed and end-turns, at headland and interior boundaries.
Solution
To provide a Graphical User Interface display called Green Star RCD for performing, recording and analyzing planting, seeding and harvesting operations on the field. When these RCD’s are GPS enabled, they provide information regarding tractor location, on the field, through a GPS receiver. These displays can also control Auto Trac, which automates tractor implements controls, ground speed and end-turns at headland and interior boundaries.
Benefit
This hi-tech, GPS enabled display on the tractors provide a Graphical User Interface to the user by which the user can select client, farm, field and perform various operations like planting, seeding, harvesting, etc. This display also provides guidance information through the GPS receiver, to find the location of the tractor on the field and also provides graphical images of the field and tractor on the display. This display can also generate XML reports of all the operations performed on the field, which is later used for analyzing the performance of tractors and implements to enhance the productivity.
Technology
Infobahn’s consultant was involved in the design, development, testing and integration of a real time embedded software for the reconfigurable displays using embedded C, C++, CAN Simulator, GPS, real-time operating systems VxWorks and Tornado tools. We also used several embedded debugging tools like logic analyzer, JTAG emulators and Oscilloscope.
